sleep

Sleep is something we often take for granted – at least those who get a comfortable, restful, 8-hours of sleep may take it for granted. For those who are restless sleepers, extra precautions are necessary to prevent injury – especially when sleeping in a therapeutic or hospital bed.

For highly-mobile sleeper, the side rails of a hospital bed are particularly problematic. Shifting in the night can lead to painful contact bruising. A side rail pad is the answer – but not just any pad will do. Care-givers need to be able to raise and lower the rail, and an accurate fit is necessary. At EMP, we have a range of side rail pads to fit a number of common beds and they are sold in convenient packages of 2 or 4 pads. Plus, for less common bed types, we can create custom shapes and sizes.

All of our side rail bed pads are made of high-density foam and fold out of the way easily when the rail is to be adjusted.

Another concern is safety for sleepers who may fall out of bed. The likelihood of bruising, sprains and other injuries can be reduced with a bedside security pad. Again, not just any pad will do. Caregivers need the confidence of non-skid bottoms, high-density foam and a fluid-proof cover. For those dealing with wheelchairs and walkers, we offer a tapered edge pad in addition to our folding pad.

No matter how someone sleeps, we want to make sure it’s as restful, comfortable and safe as possible.
