Essential Medical Products is a strong advocate for environmental stewardship. Through our manufacturing process we have established internal processes for recycling 99%+ of our foam materials as well as recycling a significant volume of post-industrial and even post-consumer products such as: plastics, bonded fibre and paper to reduce garbage going to the landfill.
Manufactured with Natural Ingredients
A very high percentage of our foam products include natural ingredients. A portion of the petrochemicals, used in the manufacturing process are plant-based polyols that come from non-food sources, such as Castor. These plant based polyols are plentiful and renewable, and help us to further reduce the carbon foot print. We also use a water based, non-toxic glue. This unique glue has Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certification, which makes it one of the most environmentally friendly adhesives available on the market.
In addition, during the manufacturing of our foam products, either water or recovered CO2 is used as blowing agents, so that no “off gassing” occurs. And none of our foam products contain PBDEs or CFCs, making it better for us and better for the ozone layer.
We also require our material suppliers to share our dedication to environmentally responsible manufacturing by meeting or exceeding public and industry environmental standards. One example of this is our sourcing of foam grades made with a patented Variable Pressure Foaming (“VPF”) manufacturing process. Using this process, a higher yield is realized from raw materials as well as a reduction in air emissions. VPF technology exceeds the Clean Air Act requirements, and is the most environmentally friendly process for the manufacture of polyurethane foam worldwide.
